Abstract
Due to the increase in life expectancy, the increase in chronic diseases, and changes in the social structure, the elderly population who spends the elderly in nursing homes continues to increase. Elderly patients who are at high risk of falls due to inconvenient movement or who have incomplete urination may need intermittent catheterization, urethral catheterization, or suprapubic cystostomy instead of diapers or condom catheters, depending on their health and nursing environment. Currently, the evaluation indicators related to urinary catheter management and catheter-related urinary tract infections for elderly patients with severe urination disorders in nursing hospitals, which are currently being applied to the evaluation of the adequacy of nursing hospitals, are problematic because only simple prevalence indicators exist. It is necessary to improve the evaluation criteria for the adequacy of nursing hospitals for severe urination disorders and urinary tract infections by adding management indicators that enable proper management and setting higher weights.
